There is a comfort and coziness that we associate with the holidays in the month of December: Advent, Christmas, Hannukkah, the solstice. The fire in the fireplace, the candles of the menorah, the candles on the Christmas tree or in our windows, the stars in the sky, and the families around the stove; all providing light, warmth, direction, and memories - both physical and emotional. We recognize the solstice, the shortest day of our year, which is a centerpiece of human calendars since the dawn of recorded time; it bodes the return of the light into our lives. We have a history of lighting the dark, to warm our souls, to remind ourselves of the warmth and sunlight to come, and to remember…
The orchestra, our special guest vocalist and our local high school choirs will present music of season, to illuminate our theme, and light our path into the holiday season. There will be several new premieres of music written especially for this program!
Come join the Lake Charles Symphony for a concert that celebrates the warmth of homes, the fire in the hearth, the memory of the candles, and the direction that the stars (those lights in the sky that inspired the calendars of long ago) provide to us all.
